About Me

  • About Tomvart
    Biography
Served 23 very enjoyable years in the Royal Navy, seen most of the world apart from Russia. Highlight of my career was a three year accompanied draft to Hong Kong where my eldest son was made and born!

Served on many types of ships - Patrol Boats, Minesweepers, Frigates, Destroyers and Carriers (even managed a loan draft to a Submarine):
    Shore Drafts:
HMS Raleigh, HMS Dryad (School of Maritime Operations), HMS Pembroke (Reserve Sqn Unit), HMS Mercury, HMS Excellent, FOSNNI, HMS Forest Moor, HMS Cochrane, HMS Neptune, HMS Tamar, Tactical Procedures Group.
    Sea Drafts:
HMS Dittisham, HMS Enterprise (Loan), HMS Achilles, HMS Otus (loan), HMS Anglesey, HMS Bickington, HMS Kedleston, HMS Starling (loan), HMS Peacock (loan), HMS Plover, HMS Liverpool, HMS York (loan), HMS Illustrious, HMS York.

Spent 7 years working for BAE Systems as a Senior Systems Engineer and leading the team testing Mission systems and Sensors on the Nimrod MRA4 Maritime Patrol Aircraft between 2001-2008.

Between January 2008 and July 2013 I worked as a Consultant for 3SDL on Tactical Data Links, ISTAR and Communications on a number of platforms in many nations throughout Europe and Australasia.

In July of 2014 I started my own business working in Defence Communications and Systems - I have recently been contracting to BAE Systems Future Combat Air System Group, Ultra electronics and Saab (Sweden) integrating new systems into ships of the Royal Swedish Navy

I am interested in researching my family history and I was very pleased to find out that there has been one of my ancestors at sea for over 300 years.
