- 25 years in the Merchant Navy - Jan 1969 to Dec 1993. 1969 to 1977 - nav app and 3rd mate with BPTC, 1978 - 2nd mate AHTS with Wimpey Marine, 1978 to 1993 - 2nd mate & chief mate with Esso. Retired medically unfit 31/12/93. Self employed since then, mostly running a Marine Recruitment Agency. Currently retired but working as a taxi driver.
