- My first encounter with the sea was the age of 5, when our dad was U.S. Army with orders to Germany. From New York we traveled by sea on the U.S. Naval Ship "General Simon B. Buckner" This was in 1960 or 61. couple memories have always stayed with me/ the sky was always gray and the air was cold-must have been in the winter months/water rough but the sea had a calm feeling about it/ seeing the Cliffs of Dover/ and ended up in North Germany from there by train to ?Stuttgart ? Frankfurt ? Nuremberg? Came back to the States in 63 / fast forward few years and joined the U.S. Navy in 74 and stationed on a ship in the Mediterranean, got out in 77. Got married , started a business and some what retired at present :-)
