- Born in London 1941. Grew up in suburban SW London area and went to school in Kingston.
Marine career 1958 - 1977: Pre-sea training at Warsash. Cadet to Chief Officer/Mate with Shaw Savill Line and also seconded to Crusader Line sailing in passenger liners, cargo passenger ships, reefers, freighters and feeder container ships. Mate to Master with Offshore Marine Ltd sailing in AHTS and PSVs. RNR service in various ships of Royal Navy reaching rank of Lt. Cdr.
Qualified as Master Mariner in 1967 and B.Sc specialising in marine systems engineering in 1975.
Oil & Gas industry career 1977 - 2001: Installation Supervisor, Marine Controller, OIM and Company Rep. on production platforms, drill rigs, flotels and work barges based offshore in North Sea and Beaufort Sea. Served as Ice Observer and Bargemaster aboard Arctic drill rigs. Also worked in offices ashore as Marine Co-ordinator, Logistics Supervisor, Marine Systems Engineer, Logistics Engineer, Contracts Analyst and Contracts Supervisor employed by Shell, Gulf and Qatar national oil companies.
Marine Consultant in a small Engineering Partnership.
Since retirement have served as Captain of summer seasonal tourist ship propelled by stern paddle wheel and with capacity of up to 200 pax and with 6 crew operating on inland lake.
British and Canadian citizen resident in Calgary.
Happily married with 3 adult children and total of 5 grandchildren. - Location
