I think we will be quite comfortable. You get the man wrong. A shandy in Drambuie's native gaelic means 'full glass of'. Not to be confused with the 'that's'handy' when finding the deck carpeted when his gyro finally topples.

As its dark down in the depths of the injun room and we don't have any windies (Norn Iron for window) we never have any feckin' idea where we are and leave such navigational matters to the deckie crowd. Not that they have any idea where we are either but they have windies :smoking:

We all know the deck ornaments have windies but they are not windies for looking through, they are windies to allow the crew earn overtime when washing them on a Sunday.

I was in the Second's cabin having beer on Stonehaven when overhearing the following call from Mike in the engine room:

At this point the lights went out. The windies in question were those that allowed one to see into the alternator of the turbo generator. The illumination in question was that provided by the arcing accompanying the vapourisation of its copperwork.

Technology is it? bah humbug.... If I can't fix it with a good wallop from my 7llb shifter then it is of no feckin' use or interest to me.

I have observed Varley on many occasions engrossed in his spitzen und sparken gubbins. Suffice to say I tend to leave him to it, he seems happy enough especially when his eyes light up :chuckle:
