Geoffrey Wellum
Squadron Leader Geoffrey Wellum DFC died 18th July 2018 aged 96.
He was the youngest pilot to serve in the Battle of Britain having joined the RAF age 17 in 1939. He is attributed with being one of the pioneers in dealing with 'G' force. He later took part in Operation Pedestal, flying off HMS Furious to Malta. I would commend anyone interested to read his book 'First Light'.

Young Fighter pilot two doors up from where I lived in a small village in Wales killed on his first op. My wife's young cousin killed when his plane's engine packed up and he jumped to late, to near the ground. We owe them a lot, Lest We Forget.
