EDGE with Windows 10

Now I have upgraded from wonderful W7 to W10 and kept IE as my browser, I find that I am directed to the dreaded Edge when I watch a YouTube video. It plays OK but I cannot find how to download the YouTube videos from Edge.

Please advise this frustrated old git who has little IT knowledge but just wishes to watch good videos on my PC.

Download Firefox, I use it on everything (other browsers are available) but take care because Foxstart, the optional but preferred home page, can be a bit suss.
It is all very intuitive to use.

You can enter this into Google and examine the Third Party links:

"can you download youtube videos with Edge."

I should point out that I'm pretty sure it is illegal to download videos off Youtube but whether or not they'll come after for it is a mute point.

Sorry, misread the question.
Go with what Bob says and download the recommended app.

If you just want to watch the video why do you need to download it?

Gentlemen, I must thank you for your answers showing examples of moral rectitude but I am aware of the legalities.

In the past I could watch videos on YouTube without annoying pop-ups breaking in and spoiling it. Now Edge takes over and presents a useless pop-up ad at the beginning and another half-way through the performance. These are not aids to downloading and are doubtless there to dissuade would-be downloaders. I have downloaded and launched the Microsoft app but surprise surprise - it doesn't do anything!

In the past I have only downloaded arias from favourite operas and occasional popular songs which I keep in my Videos folder so that I can watch them when I feel like it. As you can see from my location, I live in an area not exactly blessed with good internet broadband service. This means that I cannot watch anything without accepting the risk that it will terminate at any point, which makes it all very annoying and frustrating.

Thank you for your kind words and advice.

Alick, I find that when this happens to me, I can click on the "You Tube" logo below the running video and this opens up You Tube in another tab. If you try this you can watch You Tube directly. Also, instead of downloading, try clicking on the star emblem at the far right of the title window in the tab, and this will save that video in your "favourites" file so that you can go back and watch it again, provided it hasn't been taken down from You Tube.

Good Luck!

Regards, Roy.

Thank you, Roy. I don't see the logo below the video? Where is it? I must be getting old...

Hi Alick.

The "You Tube" words appear below and to the right on the screen of the video playing, from memory. I just click on it and then that same video opens up in You Tube on a new tab. I must admit that it isn't obvious that this is what to do. I discovered the trick by accident.

Best regards,

Roy,

I can't see it, Roy. When I go to YouTube I am taken to Edge and there is nothing below and to the right of the video. I've tried Chrome too and the same.

I have managed to keep IE as my default browser but I don't think YouTube works in IE any more.

Thanks anyway
