Secret RN Mission!

I read in the UK Defence Journal, that HMS Queen Elizabeth is deploying to the far North, on a secret (not now it isn’t!) mission, to allow a cargo aircraft ( also on a secret mission), to land on if necessary!
My immediate thought has to be, how? The QE doesn’t have any arrest or gear, or a flight deck capable handling ‘cargo aircraft’.
The cargo aircraft is to be supported by Typhoons on its mission.

Yep, a 'Santa' support type secret mission.

I particularly like the description of 'STOVL' as Sleigh Take Off and Vixen Landing and of course the Admiral in charge of the operation - Feliz Navidad! - Brilliant.

In November 1982 MV Ailsa Princess was chartered by MoD to test the feasibility of using car ferries to LAY mines - So I suppose finding them again might be the next stage 40 years later.

This seems to have been an exercise that was unnecessary as two Canadian Pacific Railway vessels were converted successfully in WWI, Princess Irene and Princess Margaret. (Sadly Princess Irene blew up at Sheerness in 1915.) Other short sea vessels also converted during that war were Biarritz, Paris and Wahine. But then again, we are talking about Civil Servants here.
