Talking Layman’s guide to ships.

There must be more out there, but I came upon this Politician’s view of a modern submarine.

They forgot the red button thingy that makes the little cylindrical thingies whiz off and instantaneously do preliminary redevelopment stuff to big places where people, like, actually live, when the whizzy thingies go "Bang."

The roundy roundy thing rings a bell.

I don't know if in anyone else's experience they came across the same thing, but in Blue Funnel, when taking over the watch, we never asked how the Main Engine or Auxies were running. It was always, "How's the Job going?", answer: "Up and down and round and round!". A bit of a superstition thingy.

Rgds.

I think that this is one those that tries to sneak up behind ships and when the Captain says; “now!”, everyone shouts; “Bang”.

Not sure of original source, but that would likely fit.

That reminds me of the Bob Newhart sketch about the nuclear submarine returning to base after a long patrol. "The Cruise of the USS Codfish."
