So that's what encourages you to scream around the deck at breakneck speed.

Mine doesn't go fast enough these days to warrant such (unnecessary? ) complexities.

Anybody got an electric bike?

Varley has. He doesn't use it as he can't top it up with distilled water.

Is that what one uses to extinguish a lithium battery when it catches fire?

From my school days I think sulphuric acid is involved or maybe hydrochloric acid but in an emergency I'm sure lemon juice would fit the bill. Besides frigging about with acids you have to deal with hydrogen or oxygen or chlorine gas and pipe it to atmosphere or up the funnel. For peace of mind buy a Raleigh or Coventry Eagle.

I am reduced to using whatever the 'phone makers standard is. My tailor kept refusing to honour warranty defects due to the holes either alkaline or H2SO4 battery spillages make (the carriage of a carboy of distilled water was also an inconvenience).

Mind you, wearing a portable telephone in these Woke days is a hazard in itself. I was ripping off a phishing caller at the Bridge on Friday and was ripped up royally and loudly myself by Widely-Woke publican on about racist language. It was, of course, as other sorts are less effective. "Put not your trust in sticks and stones 'cos words alone can break them bones"

In my experience cats are quite adept at rearranging window decor.
Perhaps some of Mr V’s feline friends could assist.

Flags already at half mast (half staff for our Colonial cousins) Sir William.

Thanks malcom but .....panic over.

Faversham "knocked up" a nice pair of pink chinzy lace curtains which.....he says....look "rather gay'.
They are about the only think he is likely to "knock up".....to be honest.

I wonder if should pipe HM's speech through to the conference-room tonight. The radio room is too small for all of us to listen there if there is to be room for our pot plants too.

(The cat's not interested. Chintz isn't comfortable as a basket lining and that shade of pink doesn't 'go' with my boiler suits').

My old mucker from our sister ship, Mr Card, was overly fond of chintz and sailed often with Saga. Over 80% of the chintz mined in the free world is purchased by Saga and there is rumours of Blood Chintz.

Attention all crew type persons..... Injuneering will darken ship at 8 bells and have "finished with injuns" for the nest ten days in honour of our departed Admiral of the Fleet as she crosses the bar. Mainbrace will be spliced and sippers provided to all in the main saloon. Calm sees ma'am Philip is on the foredeck waiting to pipe you aboard.

One who posts?

t"o affix (a paper notice, advertisement, etc.) to a post" (in a public place), hence, "to make known, to bring before the public," 1630s, from post (n.1). The meaning "to achieve" (a score, a victory) appears to have begin in U.S. newspaper sports-writing, by 1949. Related: Posted; posting"

Semantically interesting for those bent to the topic, I suppose. What about:

Oh dear, was Stephen banned? No wonder he doesn’t want to talk about it.
But still I have been effectively told to bugger off from SN, so our paths rarely cross nowadays.

I was tryping in general terms only. I am sure Stephen would not trype or paint anything unworthy of either site.

What I said wasn't what you heard, what you heard wasn't what I meant, what I meant wasn't what I said, what I said was wasn't what I meant but what I meant wasn't what you heard you thought I'd said.

Excuse me I must go and lie down as I have a headache now

Im a bit lost now.

I have had more than a few delicately phrased words with Stephen Card which ..... In retrospect....could (should) be split 50/50 in the blame department.
I infer that he has been banned from this site which is obviously nothing to do with me.....i know nothing about it.....i knew nothing of this site until Tuesday last when i was emailed by NickNz suggesting i join.
In recent weeks have been in collaboration of sorts with him in researching a few matters of a maritime nature.....and have found him to be precisely the opposite of what my prejudiced impression of him previously took him to be.

Whatever anyone's view....his knowledge and experience of matters marine are unparalleled.....his willingness to research on behalf of others ditto.....his ability to depict ships on canvas is somewhat better than mine.

I don't know if i have "put up a black" by mentioning him......if so....it was unintended.

I would grateful if someone would be kind enough to enlighten me.

Something of an emblem of honour these days, Malcolm.

Sadly.

That new chap with his own valet de cabin. Did he say black spot? Better check neither of his legs owe anything of their substance to Mahoganey or Oak. We have enough to contend with the Loaghtan Ladies League of Decency after us we don't want the law on our tail as well.
