Furious was completed with only one 18" gun! "A" turret was removed before completion and replaced by a hangar and flying-off deck, as seen in the photo.

Ned Did the 18 " guns end up in Singapore ? I did see a picture of a Monitor in WW1 with an 18 " aft on a fixed bearing

Saudisid asked if the 18" guns went to Singapore. The largest guns at Singapore were five 15" Mk I weapons. The three 18" built (two for Furious plus a spare) were to be fitted in three of the 12" gun monitors in fixed mountings trained on the starboard beam at 90⁰ to the ship's head (capable of 10 of training each side of directly abeam). HMS General Wolfe, carrying the gun intended for Furious' "A" turret, fired 81 rounds, HMS Lord Clive (spare gun) fired 4 rounds, and HMS Prince Eugene would have carried Furious' "Y" gun but by the time it was removed from Furious it was too late to fit it before the war ended. The guns were later used for trails at various shore ranges.
