At 1100 PM AST (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Beryl was
located near latitude 10.4 North, longitude 44.0 West. Beryl is
moving toward the west near 14 mph (22 km/h), and this general
motion should continue through tonight. A fast westward to
west-northwestward motion is expected through the weekend. On the
forecast track, the center of Beryl will remain east of the Lesser
Antilles through Sunday.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 65 mph (100 km/h)
with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is forecast, and Beryl
could become a hurricane on Friday. Beryl is forecast to degenerate
into a strong open trough just east of the Lesser Antilles over the
weekend.

Beryl is a tiny tropical storm. Tropical-storm-force winds only
extend outward up to 35 miles (55 km) from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 999 mb (29.50 inches).

At 1100 AM AST (1500 UTC), the eye of Hurricane Beryl was located
near latitude 10.7 North, longitude 46.5 West. Beryl is moving
toward the west near 15 mph (24 km/h). A faster westward to
west-northwestward motion is expected to begin over the weekend and
continue through early next week. On the forecast track, the
center of Beryl will approach the Lesser Antilles over the weekend
and cross the island chain late Sunday or Monday.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 80 mph (130 km/h)
with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is forecast during the
next couple of days, and Beryl is expected to still be a hurricane
when it reaches the Lesser Antilles late Sunday or Monday.
Weakening is expected once Beryl reaches the eastern Caribbean
Sea on Monday, but the system may not degenerate into an open trough
until it reaches the vicinity of Hispaniola and the central
Caribbean Sea.

Beryl is a compact hurricane. Hurricane-force winds extend outward
up to 10 miles (20 km) from the center, and tropical-storm-force
winds extend outward up to 35 miles (55 km).

The estimated minimum central pressure is 994 mb (29.36 inches).

toward the west near 14 mph (22 km/h). A turn toward the
west-northwest and a faster forward speed are expected on Saturday,
with this motion continuing through early next week. On the forecast
track, the center of Beryl will approach the Lesser Antilles over
the weekend and cross the island chain late Sunday or Monday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 80 mph (130 km/h) with higher
gusts. Slight strengthening is forecast during the next day or so,
and Beryl could still be a hurricane when it reaches the Lesser
Antilles late Sunday or Monday. Weakening is expected once Beryl

DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK

At 500 PM AST (2100 UTC), the remnants of Beryl were located near
latitude 15.2 North, longitude 60.3 West. The remnants are moving
toward the west-northwest near 26 mph (42 km/h), and this general
motion is expected to continue into Monday. On the forecast track,
the remnants of Beryl will move across the Leeward Islands, and move
near or south of the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico on Monday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts.
Slight weakening is anticipated during the next 24 hours.

However, environmental conditions are expected to become somewhat
conducive for regeneration of a tropical cyclone in a few days
when the remnants of Beryl are forecast to move across the Bahamas
and the western Atlantic.

* Formation chance through 5 days...low...30 percent

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles (75 km),
mainly to the north and northeast of the center.

west-northwestward near 26 mph (43 km/h), and this general motion
should continue through Monday. On the forecast track, the remnants
of Beryl will move across the northeastern Caribbean Sea to the
south of the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico tonight and Monday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher
gusts. Wind associated with the remnants are expected to drop
below gale-force later tonight or Monday morning.

However, environmental conditions are expected to become somewhat
conducive for regeneration of a tropical cyclone in a few days when
the remnants of Beryl are forecast to move across the Bahamas and
the western Atlantic.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 35 miles (55 km)
to the north of the center. La Desirade Island near Guadeloupe
