RN Cruiser Melbourne 1956 - 1959

As a schoolkid in the late 1950s there was a school excursion to a Royal Navy cruiser berthed in Melbourne.

Half the class went one day and the other half another day. I contrived to go on both.

Does anyone know which Royal Navy cruiser/s might have been in Melbourne in the approximate years 1956 - 1959, please?

It was definitely a RN vessel rather than RAN as I think that HMAS Australia had gone by then.
