Old BBC program about coasters
The video documentary in it's entirety is 40 minutes although pretty good.
This is a documentary about the work and life aboard the old coaster "Carrick" as she plies the waters of the North Sea and the English Channel trading to the ports of Southern England and the Near Continent. Of particular interest is her passage into the port of Exmouth, Devon, which has since passed into history and been replaced with new housing development. The "Carrick" is also history having been scrapped at Sittingbourne, Kent, in 1988, a few years after this documentary was made. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZW0SxfRShI8 |

Thanks, thoroughly enjoyed that. Rick Waters was my first skipper when I started coasting - took me on as a very green Mate. I was on Carrick briefly, but spent most of my time on Terence. I was owed over £400 when they went broke - that was a lot then! Terence ended her life smuggling on the other side of the pond (I wouldn't have fancied that trip) and being sunk as part of an artificial reef - off Miami I think.
