Edge upgrade

Sorry to those who already read this under SH maintenance message. I did meant it as a new thread but must have confused myself. Anyway:

Anyone else having trouble after Edge upgrade? Read posts and forums remain marked unread until either refreshing 'Forums' or next visit. (I have, or think I have, cleared cookies and reassigned cookie permissions appropriately).

(Same happening on SN too and it has been suggested I re-download Edge.Not yet tried).

Done a fair bit of upgrading to Windows 10 2004 and the new version of Edge on several PC's and one laptop of late and as yet have had no problems. However all the machines I've done it on are reasonably modern 64 bit models, the oldest machine a 10 year old PC but it does work via an Intel I7 CPU.

This is the PC I use for beta testing on Microsoft insider ring and is currently running Windows 10 2004 build 19645.1 (they've been releasing a new build a week as of late) and the new Edge Version 83.0.478.50 (64-bit)

I use this machine for all Internet browsing and even some radio work with SDR's. It's as original except I fitted a better cooling fan to the CPU and upgraded the video card in order to run three monitors.

It goes without saying since it's being used for beta testing I've got it backed up every which way but loose so if it did go south it would only be a minor disaster ..

All beyond me but I'm fed up having problems with Edge and W10. Computer now shuts Edge at random and pees me off no end. I'm considering packing MS in and treating myself to an iMac.

I had no problem with IE but now I have upgraded to W10 I must watch YouTube vids in Edge. Is there a simple idiot-proof way of downloading YouTube videos from Edge which this simple soul can understand?

Remember when 'solid state' meant the gear had transistors instead of valves?

How do you fancy a laptop running thermionic components :}

I use a variety of browsers but not IE or Edge; different browsers for different tasks having tried a "new" one as the mood took me. There are plenty out there. Stems from a few years ago when I was at work and "Orca" was the only browser which worked for me when I was trying to do a particular job on a particular PC. Windows 10 is frustrating at times with various things that stop working but there is usually a work round; usually with a right click. If it gets too much I go back to the old PC which dual boots Windows 7 and Windows 10. Then I can go back to a much older 486 dos PC to play some old games.
