Purser Peter Buckley crossed the bar

I’m sorry to report that ex-Purser Peter Buckley has crossed the bar after a battle with cancer, bravely fought. Peter had 2 x periods in the RFA, joining in the late 1970s after initially serving with PSNC, leaving in the mid-1980s. He rejoined in the late 1980s and left finally from a shore position in the rank of T/A 1/O(S) in 2001. After leaving the second time he served afloat with Hebridean Island Cruises worldwide then served almost 10 years with the Sultan of Oman’s Royal Yacht Service. When he, wife Mariya and young son Christopher returned to the UK a couple of years ago, they settled in Blackpool where he bought and ran an upmarket holiday apartments business. Peter was always a popular shipmate due to his unfailingly pleasant demeanour and keen sense of humour. RIP
