New Article Posted: Southern Cross Sovereign Q.S.M.V. DOMINION MONARCH

In recognition of the 60th Anniversary of the arrival on 25 November 1962 of Shaw Savill's DOMINION MONARCH (1939-1962) at the breakers in Japan.

I have posted in my blog "Wanted on Voyage" a new monograph on this, the greatest of all ships built to serve the U.K.-New Zealand run and the largest ever combination cargo-passenger liner.

I have enjoyed the 'article' albeit still only half of the way through it.
You have obviously put a hell of a lot of effort into it.
Thanks.

DM

Have just come accross this comprehesive well researched tribute to a great ship.
Well done, good job, thanks for taking such care. Havn't come across any duff info on my first quick scan.
I was a SS&A Engineer 1957-68 who had a brief tour of DM while her homeward cargo was transfered to Persic at Antwerp during one of the frequent London Dock strikes Nov, 1960.

Well researched and a fascinating read - an excellent and informative account of an enigmatic and beautiful ship.

My father worked on her machinery installation during her building at Swan Hunters as an apprentice Fitter in the late 30's, and again (now as a qualified Engineer) for her refit in '47, the men who built her were extremely proud of her.
