Stan mayes

I served in merchant navy 1936 to 1956 followed by 30 years as a ships rigger in Thames area . [ Sailed 32 ships in MN and worked on 3107 ships of all nationalities as a rigger ] Anyone who knows me,it would nice to hear from them ...Stan Mayes of Gravesend

Stan and I emailed each other frequently, we were both married to German gals from the same location. I miss his emails. Stan the Man, R.I.P.

I think it in order to bring memorial brass plates from SN of selected passed members of celebrity (of which Stan is certainly one such).

If we have to bring over body bags too, however, I fear the delay in handling them over the raft of survival craft that are now hazarding our navigation may prove decidedly unhygienic.

I'll drink to that.

For those who do not Know Stan was the most popular and respected member of SN. I am sure we will have many of Stan's memories to come but at a time when there was some back biting and unfortunate posting on SN Stan stood out like a beacon of British common sense and maintained the highest standards. I cannot remember the exact title but there was a poll of some description for everyone's favourite poster on SN and Stan won by a mile.
