Derbyshire Memorial

During the Derbyshire remembrance service to be conducted on Saturday, September 15th 2018 at 11:00, at the Liverpool Parish church, the Church of Our Lady and Saint Nicholas, Lord John Prescott will officially open the new church gardens, Paul Lambert, O.B.E., the chairman of the Derbyshire Family Association, will unveil the Derbyshire Memorial, and John Barraclough, retired Bibby Line purser/catering officer, will lay a wreath on behalf of all Bibby Line seafarers, past and present.

Plans are also afoot to commission a memorial bench(s) in memory of the untimely deaths of Maxwell Biggam, Electrical Officer, and Robert (Bob) Prescott, Third Engineer Officer, who both lost their lives in 1976 in a Boiler Room explosion on board the Liverpool Bridge, later renamed the Derbyshire, during her sea trials.

A date for the diary, I'm sure many of us will have some private thoughts about shipmates we knew who were lost on Derbyshire.

Best Wishes
