Info needed on ships

Hi,

I'm in the process of researching my Granddad's time at sea. I've found some info on some ships, but not much on where they went. I was wondering if there is any info available?

He was a merchant seaman in the 1950s mainly.

Here are the first ten ships he was on-

  • BRITISH ESCORT, NEWCASTLE, 1952-3
  • SCOTTISH EAGLE, NEWCASTLE/ SOUTHAMPTON, 1953-4
  • AVISVALE, MIDDLESBOROUGH/ GLASGOW, 1954
  • CAPE HOWE, FALMOUTH, 1954
  • CALTEX MOZAMBIQUE, TILBURY/ IMMINGHAM, 1954
  • CALTEX WELLINGTON, NEWCASTLE, 1954-5
  • BORDER LAIRD, NEWCASTLE/ AVONMOUTH, 1956
  • BORDER LAIRD, SWANSEA/ NEWCASTLE, 1956-7
  • THISTLEMUIR, MIDDLESBOROUGH/ MANCHESTER, 1957
  • MERCIAN, LIVERPOOL, 1957
Any information I recieve will be greatly appriciated,

Thank you,

James Quinn

James,

I would suggest that you best try a web site called - MIRAMAR - which details ships information. If you have trouble with any of the listed ships please come back and we will try and help you. It will take you a little time. Also there are likely to be name changes from the original so search using - any part of field -

Neville.
